Google’s AI models continue to expand across products and services. Both inside and outside the company itself. This time, it is the famous Opera browser that integrates the advanced capabilities of Google Cloud into its system. Thanks to the collaboration between the two companies, Opera One users will be able to access new features powered by Google’s Gemini models, improving the browsing experience.
Integration of Gemini Models into Opera Opens the Door to Imaging
Opera has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to integrate Gemini Models into its native AI, Aria. This integration improves AI performance and allows Opera One to more efficiently detect and process user intent. Aria, powered by Opera One’s multi-threaded composer, can now select the most suitable model for each task, thus optimizing results.
Google’s Gemini models stand out as being among the most modern and powerful today, allowing Opera to deliver more up-to-date content with superior performance. This collaboration is not new; the two companies have been working together for more than 20 years, and this new integration further strengthens their relationship in the field of generative AI.
Per Wetterdal, Executive Vice President of Partnerships at Opera, comments: “We are pleased to announce the strengthening of this collaboration in the field of generative AI to further enhance our suite of AI services for browsers.
One of the main new features of this update is the addition of two new features in Aria, powered by Google Cloud. The first is image generation using the Image 2 model in Vertex AI, which will allow users to create high-quality images directly from the browser. The second is the ability to read responses in conversational mode thanks to Google’s text-to-audio model, providing a more interactive and accessible experience.
Eva Fors, Managing Director of Google Cloud in the Nordic Region, said: “We believe the future of AI will be open, which is why we are providing access to the best of Google’s infrastructure, products, platforms and foundational models to empower organizations to chart their course with generative AI.”
Opera not only focuses on the integration of new technologies, but is also committed to sustainability. Recently, the company inaugurated a green energy-powered AI data cluster in Iceland, equipped with NVIDIA DGX supercomputing. In addition, Opera has launched an AI feature update program that allows early adopters to test the latest AI features on an experimental basis before they arrive in stable versions of the browser.
