This would be the HMD Skyline, a new version of the legendary Nokia Lumia 920

HMD already alerted us a few months ago, when it shared a pixelated photo of several phones with the slogan “you don’t know what we’re going to do this summer”. And they are keeping their word: after presenting the Barbie Flip Phone and the resurrection of the mythical Nokia 3210 in the form of a mobile with 4G, the Finnish company is preparing to launch a new version of a smartphone that caused a sensation back in 2012.

In its purpose of resurrecting nostalgic models of telephony, HMD is creating several versions of the legendary Nokia Lumia 920, one of them being the one we are going to know below. We present the new HMD Skyline, which we can now put a face to thanks to the render leaks shared by the Xiaomi website, where we see that its screen looks like that of many other devices on the market, but differs from the rest by that characteristic Fable design, which we saw for the first time in the Nokia N9.

This modern version of the Nokia Lumia 920 will boast a colorful plastic back and a screen with thin bezels, although the size of the panel and other relevant details have not yet been confirmed, for example, if it will have a 3.5 mm jack connector for headphones like the original model. In addition, it is a great point in its favor that it has an on-screen fingerprint reader and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, although it is only capable of fighting splashes.

HMD Skyline: Pricing and Availability

According to leaks shared, the new HMD Skyline will be available on Wednesday, July 10 at a Finnish retailer, just a month from now. This smartphone, which is hidden under the codename “Tomcat” and its model number is TA-1688, looks like it will be placed squarely in the mid-range segment of telephony.

In addition, it is expected to come with a unique configuration of 8 GB of RAM + 256 GB of internal storage, and that it can be purchased for a price of 520 euros. If this information is confirmed, the cost would be much higher than what was expected a few months ago, when they said it would be around 400-440 euros, so we probably won’t know exactly until launch.
