Fascinating and surprising, storms are a tangible sign of the gigantic power of nature. That is why it is not surprising that thousands of professional and amateur photographers have their cameras ready to capture these phenomena, which attract us by the manifestation of nature showing off and claiming its prominence in extreme conditions that awaken dichotomous feelings and sensations: amazement and admiration, strength and fear.
Throughout history, different cultures admired and also feared the emergence of storms. Rains could be as beneficial as they were devastating to agriculture depending on the time of year, and volcanic eruptions often brought apocalyptic scenarios for civilizations that did not understand the motives they were attending to. Our forefathers, just as they blessed Zeus, cursed and rejected Seth. However, in our day, patient photographic hunters of hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes and erupting volcanoes provide us with an astonishing collection of dramatic moments where nature is the total protagonist with its immense fury.
