How to Find and Secure Your Android Devices

Google’s Find My Device app simplify the process of monitoring your Android devices, including phones, tablets, Wear OS smartwatches, and Pixel Buds earbuds.

When starting the app, you’ll be prompted to select and sign into the relevant account, especially if you have multiple accounts. Subsequently, a list of all linked devices will be displayed. You can choose a device from the list to view its approximate location on a map, its current battery level, and the timestamp of its last known location. The app also offers a ‘Get directions’ option, which guides you to your device using Google Maps.

In cases where the device’s location is imprecise or unavailable, you can opt for the ‘Play sound’ feature (as depicted in the screenshot below), which triggers a loud tone, even if the device is in Silent mode.

In situations where your device is lost or stolen, you have the option to remotely lock it by selecting ‘Secure device.’ If the device lacks password protection, you can set up a password for added security.

Furthermore, if you are certain that you won’t be able to recover your lost device, you have the choice to erase all data through a factory reset. However, it’s crucial to note that this action will render the device untrackable.
