Nothing lasts forever, but there are things or people that last longer than others and when that happens they become enduring. Take a look at this list and be amazed by their time records.
The longest marriage.
Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher are the owners of the longest-lived marriage on record, they have been together for 85 years, only turning 85 last May. They are Americans and have lived in the State of North Carolina for 50 years.
Oldest bartender.
Angelo Cammarata is the longest-serving bartender in the business, according to Guinness. Almost all of his 77 years have been spent working in a bar, serving his first drink as a professional on April 7, 1933, when Prohibition ceased in the United States.
The longest point in tennis history.
This is unbelievable. Vicki Nelson and Jean Hepner accomplished the feat of playing the ball to each other 643 times before scoring a point. Too bad on Thursdays who had to endure such a tremendous speech. Lluís Colet didn’t stop talking for 124 hours. He spent five days and four nights talking mainly about Salvador Dalí, Catalan culture, but of course he talked about many other topics.
Centennial lamp.
Believe it or not this lamp has been lit since 1901, it has been working for over 109 years. It is located in a fire station in Livermore, California, USA. In 1976, for 22 minutes, and due to the transfer of the fire brigade facilities, the light bulb was turned off, it was the only time it stopped working.
Longer film.
Grab a bag of popcorn and get ready to watch this “long” movie that lasts 87 hours. The film itself has a very simple story, it’s about an artist reading a huge poem, but to lift the spirits, sometimes a clip or two of heavy metal and a few fragments of pornography appear. The longest novel.
If you thought “Brothers Courage” was too long, you’ll be surprised at this American novel. It had been around for 72 years, started on radio and then migrated to television for a total of 15,000 episodes. “Guiding Light” ended in 2009.
The longest reign of a monarch.
Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Thai king, has been in power for 60 years. After his brother’s death in 1950, Adulyadej ascended the throne. However, she does not have much power in her country, due to the fact that the monarchy was abolished in 1930, that is, as the Queen of England, only one representative.
Great blackout in history.
The largest blackout in the world occurred in Auckland, New Zealand. Due to problems in a power cable, others ended up overloaded and failed one by one. With these mass outages, only part of the city had power restored after 66 days.
The longest courtship.
This is the king of procrastination. He got engaged to his beloved at the age of 15, and literally dragged his feet for 67 years! Octavio Guillen and Adriana Martinez finally tied the knot at the age of 82.
The longest kiss in cinema.
Jayne Wyman and Regis Toomey hold the record for the longest kiss in a movie, lasting exactly three minutes and five seconds kissing. I don’t even want to imagine the tedium of that scene.
