There are situations where you are completely alone with someone who looks suspicious, and you prefer to fight your fear in order not to appear rude. It’s terrible that we judge people by how they look, but when it comes to looking out for your safety, you don’t have to care so much about societal norms of kindness and conviviality. If you’re distrusted, trust your instincts and walk away, no matter how rude you seem.
