1. I Am Sam
Sam is a mentally retarded father, he has the IQ of a 7-year-old; Lucy is the daughter he had with a destitute woman. 2. The Shawshank Redemption
Andrew Dufresne is a successful banker whose life is radically changed after he is wrongfully accused and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife. In prison he meets Ellis “Boyd’Red”, who becomes his closest friend. Together they try to change the reign of terror under which the prison operates, and they enjoy dreaming of their freedom together. This is a film that represents friendship, loyalty, and hope.
3. The Blind Side
Despite being a comedy, this story is full of drama and will tear your heart apart. The Blind Side is based on the true story of NFL player Michael Oher. Michael is a homeless teenager who doesn’t go to school, the son of a drug-addicted mother for whom he ran away from home. His life changes when, on a rainy night, he meets Leight Anne, who invites him to her home and becomes a major influence on him.
4. Marley and Me
John and Jenny Grogan have just gotten married, they start their marriage with a lot of love and enthusiasm. John isn’t ready to become a father, so he decides to give his wife an adorable Labrador puppy, to put off the decision to have a baby. The film is about the adventures of the little dog named Marley, and how he changes the lives of couples.
5. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
This movie is about a beautiful and heartbreaking friendship. Bruno is the young son of a German Nazi officer. Bruno discovers that there is a fence near his house, behind which he always sees a curious boy who always wears striped pajamas. Bruno approaches to meet him, not even suspecting that the barbed wire actually defines a concentration camp at Auschwitz, and that the boy in the striped pajamas, named Shmuel, is the son of Jewish prisoners. Bruno and Shmuel become close, not knowing what makes them so different from each other.
6. Billy Elliot
Billy is an 11-year-old boy, the son of a miner who lives in a poor community in Northem, England. One day Billy stumbles upon a ballet class while on his way to his weekly boxing class. The boy then develops a taste for ballet and realizes that his greatest desire in the world is to become a dancer. Against his father’s consent, Billy pursues his dream.
Each film on the list reflects human internal metamorphoses. The characters are unique, full of emotions and hopes that make them break the barriers that limit them, to achieve their dreams.
