iOS 18 has arrived with many new features, but not all of them were presented yesterday during WWDC 2024. New features are announced later or discovered with the use of betas, such as the possibility of recording, transcribing and summarizing calls, a function that will also arrive in the new version that will be released for the iPhone next September.

Of course, it will be a function that will respect the privacy of the participants of the call, since all of them will be notified that it is being recorded. On the other hand, this feature will also use some of the Apple Intelligence features to transcribe and summarize the call.

Surprise: in iOS 18 you can record calls natively

After making or answering a call, recording can be activated. All participants will be notified that the call is being recorded, so privacy will be respected at all times. Also, while a call is being recorded, the iPhone can display a transcript. Also, as we mentioned earlier, Apple Intelligence will play an important role here by providing a summary with the key points of the call so that users can review the most important things.

The phone call transcript will be available in English (U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore), Spanish (U.S., Mexico, Spain), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Mandarin (China Mainland, Taiwan), Cantonese (China Mainland, Hong Kong), and Portuguese (Brazil).

In addition, in the Phone app has also been added a new interface to search the call history, autocomplete of the phone number when you start typing and an option to be able to change the SIM card quickly. Finally, since we’ve mentioned them, audio transcription features will also be coming to the Notes app for iPhone 12 or later.

Recall that iOS 18 is currently in beta and will be released in September for all compatible iPhones. But if you want to have iOS 18 before it’s released to the public, you can install it by joining Apple’s beta program. Of course, it must be taken into account that it is still a beta.
