In the world of painting, logic dictates that works should be preserved as closely as possible to the artist’s original representation. In fact, art restorers resort to complicated techniques to avoid, as much as possible, altering the original work.
However, on the r/Repaintings subreddit, people from all corners of the world share their imaginative alterations to inexpensive old paintings. Ironically, something that artists might consider taboo ends up giving a second chance to old, boring works whose most likely destination was a trash can.
