1. Zhangjiajie Hunan National Forest Park, China
It is one of several national parks in the Wilingyuan Scenic Area. In 1982 it was recognized as China’s first national forest park with 4,810 hectares, and in 1992 UNESCO did the same as a World Heritage Site. It was the inspiration for the sets of the movie Avatar, which is why the column-shaped mountain, formerly known as the Southern Column, is now called Avatar’s Hallelujah Mountain, as a token of appreciation for the social message of the mountain.
2. Marble Chapel Nature Sanctuary, Chile
It is a national monument that brings together a group of calcium carbonate mineral formations, located on the shores of Lake General Carrera, in the Aysén region of General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo. Over thousands of years, the lake’s waters have eroded coastal escarpments, creating these forms that include caverns and islets.
